Mayan Chess Set

A Mayan themed chess set made for Chess World AR, an Augmented Reality Chess Game by Beloudest. I designed the set inspired by ancient Mayan artifacts. To give the set a sense of historical realism I used gold and turquoise as these materials were favored by them and in our minds strongly link us to Mayan and Aztec Culture. With Chess never existing in their culture it was an interesting challenge to create something that would look the part. The board is framed by a golden Mayan number and letter system, (B2,F5 etc) and then further by intimidating turquoise visages.
